Company
Privacy Policy
Effective 2 November 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how ComputingPal collects, uses, stores, discloses, and otherwise handles personal data when you visit computingpal.com, sign in with Google, take quizzes or exam practice, join community features, submit verification materials, or otherwise use the service.
Google sign-in and your data
Data we access. ComputingPal uses Google sign-in to create and authenticate your ComputingPal account. We request basic identity permissions (email and profile). Google provides your Google account identifier, email address and verification status, name, and profile picture where available. We do not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail messages, Google Drive files, Calendar, or Contacts. Uploading a document to an optional ComputingPal tool does not grant us access to your Google Drive.
How we use it. We use this identity information to recognize you at sign-in, maintain your session, secure your account, and associate your ComputingPal profile, quiz attempts, and saved results with the correct account. Your email also supports account-related communications and support. Your profile can be displayed to other users according to the profile and community features you use; your Google email address is not published as part of your public profile.
Storage and sharing. We keep account and sign-in information to run ComputingPal. Companies that help us operate the service may process that information only on our behalf. We do not sell Google user data for advertising.
Staff access. Our team may access account information when you ask for help, when we investigate security or abuse, or when the law requires it.
Limits on use and AI processing. We do not use Google account data for advertising, credit decisions, or data brokerage, or to train generalized AI models. AI marking and review tools process only the content you choose to submit separately, not your Google sign-in details. ComputingPal’s use of information from Google sign-in follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. These Google-specific restrictions take precedence over broader descriptions of data use or sharing elsewhere in this policy.
Retention. We keep Google-linked account information while your ComputingPal account is active and as needed to provide sign-in and your saved learning records. After an account-deletion request, we delete or anonymize information no longer needed, subject to the legal, security, dispute, assessment-record, and backup exceptions in the Retention and deletion section.
Revoking Google access. You can remove ComputingPal’s connection in your Google Account connections. Revoking access prevents future access through that authorization; it does not automatically delete data already held by ComputingPal or end an existing ComputingPal session. You can sign out of ComputingPal separately.
Access, correction, and deletion requests. To request a copy, correction, or deletion of your Google-linked information and ComputingPal account, email hi@computingpal.com with the subject “Google account data request”. We verify account ownership before providing data or deleting an account. We delete or anonymize information no longer needed, subject to the retention exceptions described below for legal obligations, security, disputes, and assessment records. Backup copies remain until their normal rotation. Removing the Google connection alone is not a deletion request. We will disclose and obtain consent for new uses of Google data before using it for a new purpose or requesting additional permissions.
Introduction
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using ComputingPal, creating an account, submitting content, uploading documents, or continuing to use the service after we publish updates, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, Legal notices, and (where you participate) the Community Guidelines. If there is a conflict between this Privacy Policy and another product notice about personal data, this Privacy Policy controls for privacy matters unless a more specific notice expressly says otherwise for a particular feature.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy creates a warranty, guarantee of absolute security, promise of uninterrupted service, or contractual right beyond what applicable law requires or what our Terms of Use expressly provide. Educational content, AI feedback, quiz scores, and community advice are provided for learning support and do not constitute legal, medical, professional, institutional, or regulatory advice.
For privacy requests, contact hi@computingpal.com. Prefer Contact for ordinary product questions that are not formal privacy or legal requests.
What this policy covers
This policy covers personal data when you use ComputingPal online: your account, quizzes and exam practice, community posts and messages, verification materials you upload, optional document or AI tools, and messages you send us. It does not cover other websites or services we link to; those have their own policies.
If you use ComputingPal for an institution, you confirm you are allowed to submit any personal data you provide and that doing so follows your institution’s rules.
How we handle roles and access
Your account may have different roles (for example learner, educator, or community moderator) that control what you can do in ComputingPal. Roles are not public status ranks and do not give access to other people’s private messages or verification files except where the product clearly allows staff to review content for safety or support.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us (profile details, quiz and exam answers, community posts, messages, verification uploads, and support messages) and basic technical information needed to run the site (such as device or browser type and general log data for security and reliability).
If you use paid features, we may receive payment status and billing identifiers from your payment provider; we do not need to store full card numbers to run the service.
We may also store scores, feedback, moderation notes, and similar records created while you use ComputingPal, including AI-generated feedback where those features are enabled.
Where information comes from
Most information comes from you when you use ComputingPal. We may also receive reports from other users, notes from moderators, or public or institutional information when needed for verification or safety.
How we use information
We use personal data to run your account, provide learning and community features, review verification requests, operate optional AI feedback, keep ComputingPal secure, respond to support and legal requests, improve the product, and send important service messages. We do not sell personal data or use private messages or verification files for advertising.
Legal bases for processing
Where data-protection laws require a legal basis, we rely on processing needed to provide the account, quizzes, community, and features you request; legitimate interests such as securing the service, preventing abuse, improving product quality, and maintaining auditability of moderation and assessment integrity, where those interests are not overridden by your rights; consent where we ask for it for a specific optional activity, cookie category, or communication and where consent is required by law; legal obligation when law requires us to retain or disclose information; and, only in rare cases, vital interests or comparable lawful grounds involving serious harm prevention.
If you are in a jurisdiction with different privacy statutes, including US state privacy laws, we process personal data for the business purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, security, debugging, auditing, short-term transient use, and internal research consistent with applicable exemptions and consumer rights.
Artificial intelligence and automated processing
ComputingPal’s AI features support educational text feedback and document analysis. We do not provide image generation or use Google APIs to create, facilitate, or distribute AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery. Such use of ComputingPal is prohibited by our Terms of Use.
When you use AI features, we process the text or files you submit to generate marks, feedback, or similar results. Outputs can be wrong or incomplete and are for learning support only. Do not submit passwords or other secrets into optional AI tools unless a feature clearly requires a specific document for verification.
We may combine automated checks with human review for moderation, verification, and safety. You may contact us if applicable law gives you a right to human review of an automated decision that significantly affects you.
International transfers
We may store and process personal data in countries other than where you live. We take reasonable steps to protect your information when we do.
Retention and deletion
We keep personal data while your account is active and as long as needed to provide the service, keep quiz and exam results available, handle moderation or legal matters, and meet legal obligations. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize data where we can, except where we must keep certain records for integrity, safety, or law.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal data. No online service is perfectly secure. You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for not sharing verification documents outside the flows intended in the product.
If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to hi@computingpal.com. Do not access other users’ data, disrupt the service, or perform destructive testing without authorization.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access a copy of personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate personal data; delete personal data in certain circumstances; export or receive personal data in a portable format; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; opt out of sale, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, or targeted advertising where such practices apply and law provides that right; appeal certain refusal decisions where local law requires an appeal process; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Use settings for available account controls, or email hi@computingpal.com with the subject “Privacy request”. Describe the right you wish to exercise and provide information needed to verify that you are the account holder or an authorized agent. We may decline or limit requests where an exception applies, including where fulfilling the request would impair the rights of others, compromise security, undermine locked assessment integrity, interfere with ongoing investigations, or conflict with legal obligations. We will explain the reason where required by law. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law; we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.
Children
ComputingPal is aimed at learners and educators who can lawfully use online educational services. The service is not directed to children under the age where parental consent is required in their jurisdiction. If you are a parent, guardian, or educator and believe we have collected personal data from a child in a manner that is not appropriate for your jurisdiction, contact hi@computingpal.com so we can investigate and delete or restrict data where required. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify the request. Schools or educators who ask students to use ComputingPal are responsible for obtaining any parental or institutional consents required by local law and school policy.
Sensitive information
Please do not submit special-category or highly sensitive personal data unless a feature expressly requires it and you are legally permitted to provide it. Examples include government ID numbers, precise health information, biometric templates, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade-union membership, or sexual orientation, except where you voluntarily include such information in content you choose to post and accept the visibility of that content. Verification evidence should be limited to what is reasonably necessary to substantiate your claim. Redact irrelevant sensitive information where possible.
Communications
We may send transactional and service messages such as security alerts, password resets, verification decisions, or material policy updates. These are not marketing messages and may be necessary to operate your account. If we send optional product news or marketing emails, we will do so where permitted by law and provide an unsubscribe mechanism. You can also contact hi@computingpal.com to update communication preferences.
Community visibility
Content you publish in community spaces may be visible to other users according to product permissions and role gates. Public or semi-public posts can be copied, screenshotted, or redistributed by others outside our control. Think carefully before posting personal information about yourself or others. We may remove, restrict, or retain community content as needed for moderation, safety, academic integrity, legal compliance, or enforcement of the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use.
Verification evidence
If you submit verification materials, you authorize us and authorized reviewers to access, store, and evaluate those materials for membership and role decisions. Evidence is handled through restricted workflows and is not intended for public display. Submitting false, altered, or another person’s documents without authorization may result in denial, sanctions, account termination, and referral to authorities where appropriate. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any document you upload.
Exam practice and marking data
Exam practice features may store your answers, timing metadata, AI marking outputs, human review notes where applicable, and related progress. Marking is intended for practice and learning support. It is not an official awarding-body mark, predicted grade guarantee, or substitute for teacher assessment. Source papers, mark schemes, and related educational materials may be copyrighted by third parties. Your use of exam practice features does not transfer ownership of those materials to you, and privacy rights do not authorize copyright infringement.
Third-party links and services
ComputingPal may link to other websites or services we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own; read their policies before you share personal data with them.
Sale of data and advertising
We do not sell personal data for money. We do not use private community messages or verification evidence as advertising inventory. If our practices change in a way that constitutes a sale or share under applicable privacy laws, we will update this policy and provide required notices and opt-out mechanisms before engaging in that practice. If you are a consumer entitled to a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” request under applicable law, email hi@computingpal.com with that subject line. We will honor valid requests as required.
Personal data breaches
If we become aware of a personal data breach that poses a risk requiring notification under applicable law, we will investigate, contain, and notify affected individuals and regulators as required by those laws and within required timeframes, to the extent we are able given the facts available.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, contact us first at hi@computingpal.com so we can try to resolve it. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority or consumer protection agency in your country or state of residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as ComputingPal or the law changes. The effective date at the top will change when a revised version is published. Material changes may also be noted in-product, on the Legal page, or by email when appropriate and feasible. Your continued use of ComputingPal after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the updated policy, except where applicable law requires a different form of consent or notice.
This Privacy Policy is intended to be interpreted consistently with applicable law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer or privacy protections that apply to you where you live. Headings are for convenience only. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. This policy does not limit any non-waivable rights you may have under mandatory law.
