Terms of Use

Effective 2 November 2026. These Terms of Use govern access to and use of ComputingPal. By using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Agreement

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and ComputingPal regarding the websites, applications, content, and related services we provide. By accessing or using the service, creating an account, submitting content, or continuing to use the service after updates are published, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law and must provide accurate, current account information. You are responsible for all activity under your credentials and for keeping passwords and recovery methods confidential. You must not share accounts, create accounts by automated means without permission, impersonate another person, or register using information you are not authorized to use. Notify us promptly at hi@computingpal.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim usernames or accounts that are misleading, infringing, inactive, abusive, or otherwise harmful to the service or other users. If you are under the age where you can consent to online services in your jurisdiction, you may use the service only with appropriate parental, guardian, or institutional authorization as required by law and school policy.

Roles and permissions

Accounts begin with a base user role. Additional roles such as student, educator, supporter, sponsor, mod, dev, or beta may be granted through verified institution membership, owner-controlled assignment, or other product workflows. Roles describe permissions inside ComputingPal; they are not a social ranking system and do not guarantee academic, employment, or institutional status outside the service. You must not attempt to escalate privileges, bypass role gates, spoof verification, or access staff tools you are not authorized to use.

The service

ComputingPal provides educational quizzes, learning tools, exam practice, optional AI-assisted feedback, and a community for discussing computing topics. Features, availability, interfaces, scoring logic, and content may change as we improve the product. We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice, including to protect users, integrity, security, legal compliance, or operations. We do not guarantee that any feature will remain available indefinitely. Beta, experimental, or preview features may be incomplete, unreliable, or withdrawn without notice. Use them at your own risk.

Quizzes, attempts, and scoring

Quiz attempts are saved and scored in the product. Do not cheat or try to bypass time limits, scoring, or other integrity controls. Scores and feedback are for learning support only. They may contain errors and are not official awarding-body results.

Exam practice and AI marking

Exam practice features may present past-paper style questions, accept written or selected answers, and generate AI-assisted marks or feedback. AI marking is a practice aid only. It is not an official grade, predicted outcome, or substitute for teacher or exam-board assessment. Source papers, images, mark schemes, and related materials may be owned by third parties. Your access through ComputingPal is for personal educational practice only, subject to these Terms and applicable copyright law. You may not scrape, redistribute, sell, or publicly rehost those materials unless you have independent legal rights to do so.

Artificial intelligence features

AI features may analyze text or documents you submit and return scores, highlights, feedback, or similar outputs. Outputs can be wrong, incomplete, biased, or inconsistent. You are solely responsible for reviewing AI outputs before relying on them for study, teaching, or institutional decisions. You must not use AI features to violate academic integrity rules, generate deceptive submissions for live graded work where prohibited, upload unlawful content, or submit highly sensitive secrets unless a verification flow expressly requires a specific document type. AI features may rely on external services; availability and quality can vary.

Community and messaging

You must not use ComputingPal or its integrations to create, request, upload, share, or facilitate non-consensual intimate imagery, including AI-generated or manipulated sexual images of a person without their consent. Sexual exploitation, impersonation, harassment, and other violations of another person’s privacy or rights are prohibited. We may remove such content and restrict or terminate accounts under our moderation and safety procedures.

Community participation and messaging are privileges subject to role gates, the Community Guidelines, and these Terms. Content you publish may be visible to others according to product permissions. Direct messages are not public by default but may be reviewed by authorized staff for safety, abuse, legal, or moderation reasons. You are responsible for the content you share. Do not post personal data about others without a lawful basis and permission where required.

Academic integrity

The community and learning tools exist to improve understanding, not to circumvent assessments. Helping peers with concepts, debugging thinking, and sharing lawful study approaches is welcome. Requesting or providing answers for live graded work in a way that violates your institution’s rules is prohibited. Detailed community standards live in the Community Guidelines. Those guidelines form part of your obligations when you participate. Breach of integrity rules may result in content removal, role restrictions, sanctions, or termination.

Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to attempt to, harass, threaten, stalk, defame, or demean other people; upload or distribute malware or other harmful code; scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-export the service in abusive, excessive, or unauthorized ways; disrupt, overload, or interfere with the service; impersonate others or misrepresent affiliation, roles, or verification status; upload unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or highly sensitive content outside intended flows; use the community to sell, solicit, or traffic assessment answers; circumvent role gates, sanctions, moderation controls, or technical protections; probe, scan, reverse engineer except to the limited extent mandatory law allows, or exploit systems you are not authorized to access; use automated bots to create accounts, spam, vote-manipulate, or abuse rate limits without permission; submit false verification evidence or another person’s documents without authorization; or use the service for any purpose that is illegal under applicable law or that violates third-party rights.

Your content and our content

You retain rights to content you submit, subject to these Terms and any third-party rights. You grant ComputingPal a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, display, perform, distribute, moderate, and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the service, including displaying your public posts and profile elements. You represent that you have all rights needed to submit the content and that it does not violate law, these Terms, or third-party rights. We may remove or restrict content at our discretion for legal, safety, integrity, operational, or guideline reasons. We have no obligation to monitor all content but may do so.

Intellectual property

Software, quizzes, curriculum materials, branding, logos, site design, and other ComputingPal materials are owned by ComputingPal or its licensors. Except for the limited rights needed to use the service as permitted, no rights are granted to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, publicly display, sell, rent, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from our materials except as allowed by the product interface, written permission, or mandatory law. ComputingPal and related marks are protected. Do not use them in a way that implies endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation without prior written permission. If you believe content on the service infringes your copyright, contact hi@computingpal.com with enough detail to identify the work, the allegedly infringing material, your contact information, and a good-faith statement under applicable notice-and-takedown laws.

Verification

Verification is offered to support trusted community participation. Submission of evidence does not guarantee approval. We may approve, deny, request more information, revoke verification, or change role outcomes based on review, risk, policy, or new information. You authorize authorized reviewers to examine materials you submit for verification. False or unauthorized evidence may result in sanctions and account termination.

Moderation and sanctions

We may remove content, restrict features, issue warnings, apply account sanctions, or suspend or terminate access when activity violates these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law, or when needed to protect users, integrity, or operations. Decisions may be reviewed through channels described in the product or via Contact. We are not obligated to provide advance notice in every case, especially for safety, fraud, or legal risks.

Privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. By using the service, you acknowledge that policy.

Third-party services and links

The service may link to other websites, schools, exam boards, or tools we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. Your use of them is at your own risk and may be subject to their terms.

Fees, subscriptions, and commercial features

Parts of the service may be free. We may also offer paid subscriptions, one-time purchases, marking credits, top-ups, sponsorships, or other commercial features. The price, billing interval, included allowances, and feature list shown at checkout or in the product at the time of purchase apply to that transaction. Additional checkout or in-product notices may apply to a specific offer.

No refunds. All fees you pay to ComputingPal are final and non-refundable, including after you purchase or renew a paid plan such as Pro, Pro+, Max, Ultra, marking credits, or other paid tiers, and including if you cancel, stop using the service, lose access because of a Terms violation, change your mind, or do not use some or all of an allowance before it expires. We do not provide pro-rata refunds, credits toward future purchases, or cash equivalents for unused subscription time, unused marking credits, unused AI usage units, promotional grants, or partial feature use, except where mandatory applicable law requires a refund or where we expressly state otherwise in writing for a specific promotion.

Purchasing a paid plan does not change your obligations under these Terms. You must still keep your account credentials confidential, must not share accounts, and remain subject to moderation, sanctions, and termination for abuse, fraud, academic integrity violations, or other breaches, even if you paid for access. Paid status is not a guarantee that any feature, model, quota, price, or availability level will remain unchanged for the life of your subscription.

Allowances such as marking credits, AI usage units, or plan grants are tied to the purchasing account, are not transferable to another person or account, and may expire or reset according to the product rules shown at purchase. Failed, cancelled, or rejected automated requests may still consume allowances where the product discloses that behavior. Chargebacks, payment disputes filed without contacting us first, or payment fraud may lead to immediate suspension of paid features and account restriction or termination.

Where subscriptions renew automatically, you authorize recurring charges until you cancel through the method we provide. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund amounts already charged for the current or prior billing periods. Taxes, duties, and taxes may apply depending on your location and payment method. We may change prices, plans, or commercial offerings with notice where required by law or our payment terms. Failure to pay may result in suspension of paid features while keeping free access where available.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” for educational purposes. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ComputingPal and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and licensors disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement.

Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components; that quiz scores, AI feedback, or community advice will be accurate, complete, or institution-approved; or that defects will be corrected. You assume all risk for relying on educational content and AI outputs. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory applicable law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ComputingPal and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, education opportunity, or business interruption; arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising out of or related to the service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid to us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars or local currency equivalent if you have not paid us. These limits apply to the maximum extent permitted by law and form a fundamental basis of the bargain. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ComputingPal and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or related to your content; your use of the service; your violation of these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or law; your infringement of third-party rights; or disputes between you and other users or institutions.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. You may request account closure through available settings or by contacting hi@computingpal.com, subject to retention needs described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access immediately for violations, risk, legal compliance, prolonged inactivity, or operational necessity. Provisions that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, licenses granted to us for operational needs, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute terms, continue after termination.

Export and sanctions

You may not use the service if you are prohibited from receiving services under applicable export control or sanctions laws, or if you are located in a jurisdiction where providing the service would be unlawful.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply another jurisdiction’s laws, except where mandatory consumer protections require otherwise. Subject to mandatory consumer rights, disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be resolved in courts of competent jurisdiction as permitted by law. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally by emailing hi@computingpal.com with a brief description of the dispute and the relief sought, and allowing thirty days for a response, except where urgent injunctive relief is needed to prevent irreparable harm. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable rights under mandatory consumer or privacy law.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the product, law, or business practices change. The effective date will change when a revised version is published. Material changes may also be noted in-product, on the Legal page, or by email when appropriate. Continued use after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance, except where applicable law requires a different form of consent.

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines when you participate, and any feature-specific notices constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service and supersede prior agreements on the same subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, or sale of assets. Except as expressly stated, these Terms do not create third-party beneficiary rights. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control, including outages, natural disasters, war, labor disputes, epidemics, or government actions. If translated, the English version controls to the extent permitted by law unless we designate otherwise.
